How Scoresheet Percentages and Judge Scores Work

Pageant Planet’s Scoresheet Tabulation system exists for one reason: to ensure scoring is structured, transparent, and mathematically sound.

When directors configure their competition phases, the system enforces a non-negotiable rule:

All required (non-optional) phases must equal 100% combined.

This protects the integrity of your results and eliminates scoring confusion before judges ever log in.

Step 1: Set Your Phase Percentages (Must Equal 100%)

When building your scoresheet, you will assign a percentage weight to each required phase of competition.

For example:

• Interview = 34%

• Evening Gown = 33%

• Swimsuit = 33%

Total = 100%

If the total does not equal exactly 100%, the system will not allow you to proceed.

This ensures that every required phase contributes appropriately to the final composite score.

Step 2: Judges Score on a 1–10 Scale

Judges do not score using percentages.

When judges log into the system, they will score each category on a standard:

1–10 scale

This keeps judging simple, consistent, and familiar.

For example, a judge might score:

• Interview: 9

• Evening Gown: 8

• Swimsuit: 9

Step 3: The System Applies the Percentage Weight Automatically

Once judges submit their 1–10 scores, Pageant Planet automatically applies the percentage weight you assigned during setup.

Using the example above:

• Interview accounts for 34% of the overall score

• Evening Gown accounts for 33%

• Swimsuit accounts for 33%

Even though judges score each phase out of 10, the weighted percentages determine how much each phase contributes to the final result.
